Abstract

QR codes can store a greater amount of information and also faster. In this study, the aim was to design a tool for collecting attendance data using QR codes by storing user identities and user locations. With this location information, we can find out how far the user is from the area we have set. The way this tool works is by scanning the QR code from the user then the data is processed and divided into 4, namely the student identification number, date, and location (latitude and longitude). If the user's information matches the database and the user's location is within the central radius, then the user's identity data is stored in an online database. This research was tested at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta as a presence in the Electrical Engineering Laboratory. 3. From scanning this QR code, it takes an average reading time of 3.5 seconds with an estimated time of 3 seconds for the fastest and 5 seconds for the longest. By designing this attendance system, a method is obtained to maximize time in class learning and make it easier for assistants and lecturers to record attendance data in class without having to print attendance data in hardfile form. The results of this study can also be used in elementary schools to tertiary institutions as well as in industrial areas.
