Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of peer conformity and self-control with academic procrastination in UMS psychology faculty students, to test the effective contribution of each variable and to test the effective contribution of each aspect of each independent variable. The research method uses quantitative, the research sample is 150 students. data collection tool using a closed questionnaire. The sampling technique used ispurposive sampling. The criteria have been determined by researchers, namely active students of the psychology faculty class of 2019-2022. Data analysis using multiple linear regression technique. Based on the research results, there is a very significant role between conformity and self-control variables with academic procrastination. With an F value = 168,483 and a sig (1-tailed p = 0.000 (p <0.05). There is a very significant positive role between conformity and academic procrastination with a t = 10,732 and sig (1 tailed p = 0.000 (p <0) .05) There is a very significant negative role between self-control and academic procrastination with a value of t = -12,986 and sig (1 tailed p = 0.000 (p <0.05). From these results it can be said that there is a role of conformity and self-control with academic procrastination in students The results of the effective contribution of each independent variable are conformity with academic procrastination giving SE of 29.1% and self-control with academic procrastination giving SE of 41.8%. gives the highest SE on the normative aspect while the self-control variable gives the highest SE on the behavioral control aspect.
