Abstract

Efficient warehouse layout is an important factor in logistics management and storage of finished products. This study aims to optimize the layout of finished goods warehouses using the class based storage method. This method aims to group similar items into certain classes, thus enabling a more orderly placement and more efficient collection. In this study, using a qualitative approach by conducting direct observations and interviews with related parties in UMKM Roti Sahabat. The data obtained is then analyzed and classified into appropriate classes based on product characteristics, customer demand, and other relevant factors. It then develops a warehouse layout model based on this classification, taking into account factors such as the size and shape of goods, the frequency of requests, and the relationship between products. The results of this study indicate that the use of the class based storage method can optimize the finished goods warehouse layout. By grouping items into similar classes, picking can be done more efficiently and reducing the time needed to find and access items. In addition, well-organized placement of goods also facilitates inventory control and reduces losses due to damage or loss of goods. The results of this study provide a proposal for the layout of finished product warehouses using the class based storage method. This research contributes to the field of logistics management and can be used as a guide for companies in designing optimal warehouse layouts. Apart from that, this research can also be the basis for further research in this field, such as the development of special optimization algorithms for warehouse layouts using the class based storage method.
