Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the learning system carried out by schools, which was originally face-to-face and turned into distance learning (PJJ). This makes parents the main teachers at home. This study aims to describe the involvement of fathers and mothers in online learning for elementary school children in the city of Surakarta. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The selection of participants in this study was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by interview, and the data were analyzed thematically. The results of this study are the involvement of fathers and mothers in the learning of elementary school children in the city of Surakarta. Fathers and mothers do have different involvements because the intensity of meeting with children is different. Fathers who do have to work usually take part in motivating their children to keep them enthusiastic about the learning process. As for the involvement of mothers, who spend most of their time with their children, mothers who are very able to position themselves as friends when children tell stories so that there is more closeness between mother and child. Then the mother also teaches many new things in life to children such as cooking and other household activities. However, fathers and mothers also have the same pattern of involvement, namely helping explain material to children according to experience and reviewing books or the internet.
