Abstract
A film has the ability to construct and depict various events that occur in society's life, including societal customs, family life, and more. Fatherhood is a concept that illustrates a shift in the understanding of masculinity, where the role and responsibility of fathers within the family take center stage. The film "Jendela" narrates the story of a single father who must take on dual roles to care for his child, ensuring his son can experience a normal life. This research aims to portray and analyze the signs that reflect the concept of fatherhood in the film "Jendela." The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method. Data is collected through documentation and literature review. The results of the study demonstrate that the character of the actor portraying the father in the film "Jendela" represents a new construction in the understanding of masculinity and the role of fathers within the family. The father's role in the family setting is not only limited to being the primary breadwinner but also involves direct involvement in child-rearing. This indicates a shift and increased involvement of fathers in the family's nurturing aspects. Fathers must have moral responsibilities as parents and actively engage in child-rearing. The closeness between fathers and their children is crucial in building a harmonious relationship.
