Abstract
Politics involves the process of making decisions about important issues, such as public policy, laws, and regulations that will affect people's lives. In recent years, Indonesia has been marked by a huge wave of identity politics. Identity is a big highlight in the political scene in Indonesia. The identity that is widely used in political battles is Islamic identity. Identity politics also colors the dynamics of democracy in Indonesia. It has been displayed several times on the Indonesian political stage during local elections and elections. However, its influence on democracy, on the exclusivism of identity politics will create a division of the nation. In recent years, identity politics has become a significant and controversial issue in Indonesia. Identity politics in Indonesia refers to political phenomena based on group identity such as religion, ethnicity, ethnicity, and culture. Although identity politics has been practically recorded in its history, Islam itself has never approved and allowed identity politics because this approach violates one rule of the Islamic creed of indirect takfir between two parties who are both Muslims and damages human honor and dignity. This research uses a qualitative approach. Qualitative research emphasizes more on the aspect of natural quality related to concepts, values and characteristics inherent in the object of research.
