Abstract
Indonesia is a country with a diverse local culture, culture is an identity that addresses the characteristics, uniqueness and characteristics of a nation. One of the well-known Indonesian cultures to foreign countries, one of which is batik. High-quality batik is a craft that has become a cultural characteristic of Indonesia, especially Java. Behind the international recognition that batik has received, there are quite complicated problems with the preservation of batik as a cultural heritage. The words "preservation" and "extinction" go hand in hand, therefore, the idea of preservation already exists because there is a possibility of extinction. The preservation of batik which is hampered due to the regeneration of these batik craftsmen, if continued continuously, will have an impact on the loss of one of Indonesia's cultures. The rapid development of the times has made batik also experience changes starting from patterns, styles, functions, and methods of making, the development of batik, keeping up with the times, is not matched by providing space for appreciation of these batik works, so that these works receive less public attention. , which also had an impact on the decline of the industry and the growth of batik in Indonesia. Many people are still unfamiliar with knowledge of one of Indonesia's cultural heritage, namely batik, which has been passed down from generation to generation and has become the identity of the country. The lack of public knowledge related to batik occurs due to the lack of space that can accommodate batik as a whole, starting from the type, decorative motifs, to the manufacturing process. This problem will be raised and realized in the form of a Cultural Center building design as a forum for developing, preserving, educating, and providing information on batik in the city of Solo, and can also be used as a center for cultural diversity activities in the city of Solo so that cultural preservation is maintained
