Abstract

The Vespa motorbike is a tradition and culture that is not originally from Indonesia, but is large and growing and is passed on to the children and grandchildren of this nation. The Vespa motorbikes first appeared in Indonesia in 1963. Vespa motorbike users in Indonesia are very high and the second largest after Italy according to Marco Noto La Diega, Managing Director of PT. Piaggio Indonesia in 2014. The large number of Vespa motorbike users in Indonesia resulted in many Vespa motorbike communities popping up. One of them is in Surakarta City which has several Vespa motorbike communities, such as the oldest community, namely the Solo Scooter Association (ISSO) which was founded in 1996 and Surakarta Mods Squad which was founded in 2010. However, there is no special place to accommodate the Vespa community in Surakarta City. . Designing a Vespa center in Surakarta City is an alternative to accommodate the Vespa motorbike community and can give a new face to Surakarta City in the automotive sector. Methods for obtaining data are by means of observation, site surveys, case studies, comparative studies, literature studies, discussions, and finding results. The result of this design is the design of a Vespa motor center in Surakarta City with facilities in the form of museums, workshops and Vespa accessories shops, permanent motor racing circuits and other supporting facilities with the concept of a Neo Vernacular architectural approach.
