Abstract
At present character is a very important thing in one's life, because character will determine whether a person has a good or bad quality and personality, nowadays educational institutions and educators themselves are facing increasingly tough demands, one of which is preparing students to face various dynamics of change that are developing rapidly. Therefore, educators or someone who can be used as examples, role models and figures are needed in shaping character, especially the religious character of students at SMKN 1 Boyolali. The purpose of this study was to describe the strategies used in forming the religious character of students in Islamic religious education subjects and to find out the form or implementation of religious character education itself at SMKN 1 Boyolali. The type of research used in this research is field research which is qualitative in nature. Data collection methods used were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and ending with conclusions. The results of this study are that there are four strategies for religious character education carried out by Islamic religious education teachers, namely school culture, habituation, advice and exemplary. Meanwhile, there are four implementations of religious character education, namely getting used to reciting the Koran and reading Asmul Husna, getting used to praying Dhuha and Dhuhur, giving alms on Fridays, a culture of good ethics with school members.
