Abstract

Hospitals are health care institutions. Hospitals are large producers of liquid waste. So that liquid waste does not disturb the environment, it is necessary to treat wastewater before disposal through the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) building. UNS Hospital was established in 2016, this hospital has a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) building. However, along with the development of services, UNS Hospital plans to upgrade the hospital class from type C to B so that it is necessary to redesign the existing WWTP building with the current conditions and when upgrading to class B, this redesign is carried out so that wastewater from the hospital is smooth and does not pollute the environment and the WWTP building can be used properly when the hospital reaches its maximum capacity. The method used in this research is the design method according to the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT). The results of the research using the BPPT method are the design dimensions for 8 treatment basins, the surface load value of 15.92 m3/m2.day and 9.74 m3/m2.day, the BOD value that comes out is 9.6 mg/l with a decrease of 97%, the value of BOD Loading per Volume is 1.3 kg/m2.day and 1.05 kg/m2.day. From the calculation results, it is necessary to upgrade the existing WWTP building so that the processed water does not pollute the environment.
