Abstract
In the last two decades, the culture of South Korea has developed rapidly and spread throughout the world. Many people accepted his presence, giving rise to the Korean Wave phenomenon, often called the Hallyu Wave. One of the products launched by Korean Wave is pop music, often referred to as Korean pop (K-pop). Social media was not spared from the Halyu wave that spread in Indonesia. Social media such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, and WhatsApp are the most used social media today. Social media also connects many famous fans who live in different places and makes communication easier. thereby creating a parasocial interaction. Parasocial interactions between fans and their idols can be seen on celebrity social media accounts. Stever (2009) defines parasocial interaction as a one-way relationship between a person and someone of a higher status than people they know personally, even if that person may not know them. In this case, the person with the higher status is the Korean idol and the person who builds the relationship is called a fan. Then there are several factors that underlie the occurrence of parasocial interactions including task attraction, romantic attachment, identifying attachment, filial attachment, co-worker attachment, hero worship, childish attachment, and parental attachment.
