Abstract
There are several categories of local culture, including values and ideas, art forms, statehood, transportation, music, property, buildings, language, geography, culinary, costumes, and so on. The source of local ideas should be utilized by creators by incorporating them into works. Content creator is the activity of spreading information that is converted into images, videos and text, or what is called content, which is then shared across platforms. More and more, there are lots of content creators competing to create content that is unique and with their own characteristics. This study used a qualitative research method with a reception analysis approach by collecting data through interviews. This study uses informants who also watch Woko channel YouTube videos. The reception theory introduced by Stuart Hall who considers audience reception is an adaptation of the encoding-decoding model which is a communication model put forward in 1973. The purpose of this research is to find out how the audience's acceptance of Locality in the WOKO CHANNEL YouTube Channel. all audiences can receive messages from the Woko channel's local content with the comedy or joke genre and the Woko channel portrays Javanese cultural scenes which are packed with comedy and are able to entertain the audience. Because the audience has the same ethnic and cultural background, it makes it easy for the audience to understand the messages conveyed by the Woko channel. It's just that, according to some audiences, the local content is not what they want, so the Negotiated position here, the audience not only disagrees, but also gives suggestions to the Woko channel to provide subtitles to their videos. Then informant 5 also disagreed with the message conveyed by the Woko Channel with cultures that were not shown as jokes because they could damage the noble image that became the identity of local culture.
