Abstract

This study aims to describe the inculcation of democratic values, constraints, and alternative solutions to overcome obstacles to the inculcation of democratic values by teachers in the learning process of Pancasila and Citizenship Education in class VII A students of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Wedi Klaten. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Collecting data using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses an interactive analysis model with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the study show that the process of instilling democracy in the learning process of Pancasila and Citizenship Education is by implementing freedom of opinion, respecting the opinions of others, and being free to participate. Obstacles to inculcating democratic values in the learning process of Pancasila and Citizenship Education are the lack of confidence in students when they want to ask questions, lack of tolerance in respecting the opinions of classmates, and there are still many students who are passive. The solution to overcoming the obstacles to inculcating democratic values in the learning process of Pancasila and Citizenship Education is to provide motivation for students to want to express their opinions, hold deliberations during discussions, provide opportunities for students to ask questions about material that is not understood and answer questions related to the material that has been presented.
