Abstract
Students must adapt effectively to class size, interaction with faculty, classmates, curriculum, teaching and learning methods, lifestyle, and university environment to succeed academically. Good adaptation creates favorable conditions, helping students to carry out their learning tasks effectively. If not, they can encounter many difficulties, hinder learning activities, make learning outcomes low, and even cause dropping out of school. Therefore, the adaptability of new students in entering the university world is very important. The research objective was to determine the relationship between self-confidence and social support with the adaptability of first-year students. This study used a purposive sampling technique. The population in this study was 317 First Year Students of the Faculty of Psychology Class of 2022 Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta and the sample obtained was 162 students. This research method uses quantitative correlation. In this study, there are three scales used, namely the Adaptability, Self-Confidence, and Social Support scales. The data analysis method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a relationship between self-confidence and social support with the adaptability of first-year students. The results of statistical tests showed that p = 0.00 so the results showed that if first-year psychology students class of 2022 Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta had high self-confidence and social support, it would affect their adaptability
