Abstract
The Bengawan Solo River is the largest river on the island of Java, and carries water from a watershed (DAS) covering an area of ± 16,100 km2, starting from the Sewu Mountains in the west-south of Surakarta, to the Java Sea in the north of Surabaya through a channel that is ± 600 km long. The construction of natural resources infrastructure in the Bengawan Solo River Basin was started in the 18th century by the Dutch Colonial Government through the construction of the Solo Vallei Werken canal and the Bengawan Solo shortcut from Plangwot – Sidayu Lawas, but was stopped for reasons of cost. In 1880, in order to avoid sedimentation at the Port of Tanjung Perak, the mouth of the Bengawan Solo River was diverted from the Madura Strait to Ujung Pangkah. For irrigation purposes, the Dutch Government built the Pacal Reservoir (1935) in Bojonegoro Regency and the Prijetan Reservoir (1916) in Lamongan Regency. After the big flood in 1966 which submerged most of the city of Solo, the Government began to handle the construction of flood control infrastructure for the Bengawan Solo. With technical assistance from the Government of Japan (OTCA) in 1974, a Master Plan for the Development of the Bengawan Solo River Area was formulated. At this site as a tourist and developing the river in Bengawan Solo it becomes a tourist attraction. The Langenharjo Guesthouse is located north of the Bengawan Solo River. Administratively, the Pesanggrahan is located in Langenarjan Village, Langenharjo Village, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency. The Langeharjo Guesthouse was built only about 50 meters from the mouth of the Bengawan Solo River. Pesanggrahan Langenharjo is a cultural heritage recreation area for the local community and the Surakarta Hadiningrat Sunanate royal family. However, as the years go by, visitors to the Langenharjo Guesthouse are decreasing due to the lack of attraction for visitors. So the solution to attract visitors is the need for development in the Langenharjo Pesanggrahan area by developing the banks of the Bengawan Solo River into creative tourism. Creative tourism must also have several public spaces with an environmentally friendly architectural approach. Keywords: waterfront, creative tourism, Pesanggrahan Langenharjo
