Abstract
A number of applications that do not originate from banks that offer practical money lending services, usually referred to as online loan applications, represent advances in this financial technology. The purpose of this research is to find out legal protection against misuse of personal data in online loans. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data which can support and complement and answer all the author's questions in the formulation of the problems in this study. This research uses various types of legal materials, starting from primary legal materials, secondary legal materials, to tertiary legal materials. This research material was collected through library research, which included various actions to collect data, read, record, and process research material. Qualitative methods were used to analyze the data. The results of this study are legal protection in the misuse of personal data in Indonesia. The results of the research conducted already reflect the concept of saad-dzari'ah (closing the path of harm), this is indicated by the existence of laws that regulate it. The conclusion of this research is to prevent crimes such as theft, distribution, use of personal data for online loans, counterfeiting, and defamation (including insults) that harm others, the government has enacted laws that protect personal data from misuse.
