Abstract
Youths are a significant group in the history of human life, with a multitude of potential. However, this potential does not automatically emerge as youth develop. One of the most influential factors during this developmental period is the environment. Present-day youth face increasingly significant environmental challenges, such as social crises and climate crises resulting from the rapid pace of globalization. These issues also occur in the city of Surakarta, particularly regarding the socio-cultural environment, including the waning interest of youth in local culture and the shift towards negative aspects of foreign cultures, such as free sex, drug use, and vandalism. This demonstrates the need for efforts to strengthen the awareness and concern of youth towards the rich and potential local culture that can be preserved and developed. A Youth Community Center, with an eco-cultural approach, is necessary to provide a healthy space for youth development and to include programs that encourage youth to actively engage in environmental and sustainability activities, while promoting local wisdom in architecture and culture. The concept of eco-culture at the Youth Community Center is applied by combining the form of modern architecture, traditional ornaments, and sustainable ecological architectural technology.
