Abstract

The age of 6-12 years is the most crucial period to give children Islamic learning because they are still sensitive and responsive to what is given by adults. Providing material intends to help them in forming Islamic character from an early age. TPQ Nurul Hidayah is one of the non-formal institutions that plays a role in the formation of Islamic character in children. The purpose of this study is to describe the procedures for implementing educational programs in an effort to realize children's character education at TPQ Nurul Hidayah and identify the obstacles experienced while implementing these educational programs. This research is a type of field research with a descriptive sociological approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interview and documentation. To measure the validity of the data in this study, we used triangulation techniques of time, method and source. The data in this study were analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The existence of TPQ Nurul Hidayah has an important role in the formation of honest, caring, responsible and cooperative characters in its students with the help of several educational programs that are attractive to children, 2. TPQ Nurul Hidayah encounters obstacles, namely internal obstacles in the form of differences in the background of students which result in a teaching and learning atmosphere that is not conducive. Al-Qur'an Education School (TPQ) has an important and useful role in shaping the character of honesty, caring, responsibility and cooperation in children.
