Abstract

The development of video media as a medium for learning natural disaster material, the types of natural disasters, and the distribution of natural disaster-prone areas in Indonesia is an attempt by the authors to take advantage of information technology developments in the world of education. The expected achievement is to find out the process of developing learning videos and to find out the effectiveness of the products produced on student learning outcomes. This study used the R&D or research and development method, and was analyzed using quantitative description techniques and statistics. The process that goes through in development adopts the stages of the development procedure according to Borg and Gall (10 steps) into 5 steps of the development procedure, namely design planning as well as early-stage products, design validation, design refinement, pre-research, and validation as well as revision. Meanwhile, supporting software for the development of video media includes Capcup version 8.6.0 for tablets, voice recorder, Adobe podcast, Microsoft Word. The last step in developing video as a learning medium is a feasibility assessment carried out at the validation and revision stages, collaborating with 3 experts namely material experts, media experts and practitioner experts, the results show that the learning videos developed fall into the very feasible category with a percentage of 88.03 %. After the development product was created, the follow-up steps from the researcher were trials with the effectiveness model that were practiced on students in class XI MAN 2 Karanganyar located in Gondangrejo District, the result was that the paired sample t-test was at a nominal value of 0.000 for both classes, which means that each class has increased understanding. The test value of the independent sample t-test is at a significance value of 0.001, meaning that there is a difference in the increase in understanding of the two classes. an increase of 10.86% from the percentage of pre-test results.
