Abstract

Education is a necessity for human existence, as it can affect the quality of human resources. Indonesia's education level is low. Indonesia is ranked 62nd out of 70 countries according to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) survey. A number of factors influence the poor education system in Indonesia, such as the lack of relevant curriculum, inadequate learning spaces and infrastructure, and low-quality teaching staff. One option is to use nature schools as it is expected that children will develop good character and noble morals as an outcome of nature-oriented education, as well as a mental attitude that recognises the importance of environmental conservation for their future. Restorative environmental design is an approach that aims to reduce to a minimum the negative effects on the natural environment as well as the positive effects on the environment, or biophilic design, which encourages beneficial interactions between humans and nature into buildings. by using four characteristics of restorative design such as extent, compability, fascination, and being away, the Restorative environment design approach is able to create a Nature School as a centre for children's activities in getting education with fun, comfortable and safe according to the activities provided to develop and foster their talents and creativity and can create an environment that is safe, comfortable and safe.
