Abstract

The Urban UEV 15 electric car is an electric car used for energy-efficient car competitions. The driver complains about the neck, back, arms, legs and other body parts in the steering room. Ergonomic steering wheel design can make the driver comfortable so as to improve driver performance and the car can drive optimally. This study aims to analyze and assess the work position or posture of the neck, back, wrist arms and legs of a driver in an electric car steering room using REBA, provide recommendations for improving work postures that are comfortable and safe for the driver and provide suggestions for improving the steering room based on the results of REBA analysis and recommendations for improving the driver's work posture. The results of this study based on the analysis of the initial driver score results obtained at a high level position with a score value of 9 which means that it requires immediate improvement. Based on recommendations for improving driving work postures by simulating testing in the steering room with alternative images 1, 2 and 3. The analysis results show a moderate risk level with a score value of 5 in all alternative images which shows a reduction in the risk level of the initial driving work position. Based on the results of the REBA assessment score and alternative work posture recommendations, design drawing 3 was selected because it has a light chassis weight of 13.7 kg, adding an adjustable steering wheel and foam seat to reduce the risk of injury.
