Abstract
Fanwar is an activity that is usually carried out by K-pop fans with the aim of defending idols or vilifying or bringing down an idol or group, especially K-pop. The existence of fanwars is caused by the number of votes in competition events, styles between idols, to the achievements of a K-pop idol. In fanwars a fan or fandom will side with their idol, fanwars are often carried out on social media such as Twitter. So the researcher wants to see how the audience's reception of fanwar on social media is through the formulation of the problem: How is the audience's reception of K-pop fanwar on social media Twitter using the theory of audience reception analysis. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method. With data collection techniques obtained by interviewing several informants who fit the research criteria. The results of the study show that some informants accept fanwar where some informants fall into the negotiated reading category and other informants fall into oppositional reading.
