Abstract

The modern retail industry is an activity in the distribution of goods or services that aims to be able to meet the needs of an individual, family or community that is developed by applying modern concepts by utilizing technology and following consumer lifestyles. Based on BPS data for 2022, modern retail is one of the leading sectors, contributing 5.74% of the GRDP percentage distribution at current prices according to business sector. Tambun Selatan Sub-District has become an attraction for modern retail entrepreneurs because the Bekasi Regency area in accelerating the development of its functions and roles is used as an urban center which is part of the Jabodetabek PKN urban system which has the potential for high economic activity and is also supported by the largest population in Tambun Selatan Sub-District. population in Bekasi Regency which is proportional to the purchasing power of its people. Geographic information system applications are used to shorten the time in analyzing the suitability of locations by using the nearest neighborhood concept. The aims of this study are 1) How is the distribution of modern retail locations in South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency? 2) What are the needs of modern retail in 2031 with serviceability in South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency? 3) What is the suitability of modern retail for strategic area spatial planning in South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency? The method used is quantitative analysis using data from plotting results of modern retail distribution points by calculating nearest neighbor analysis to find out the distribution pattern of modern retail and descriptive analysis used to identify modern retail for strategic spatial planning in Tambun Selatan District, Bekasi Regency. Research result: 1) The distribution pattern of modern retail in South Tambun District is 0.73935 which shows a random distribution pattern. 2) The number of existing modern retailers in Tambun Selatan District is currently 2 department stores, 4 supermarkets and 145 minimarkets. Meanwhile, the projected need for modern retail in 2031 is estimated at 7 department stores, 28 supermarkets and 138 minimarkets. 3) Some modern retail locations are still not in accordance with the spatial layout of strategic economic areas in Bekasi Regency.
