Abstract
Fuel oil (BBM) is one of the important factors of production for various economic sectors, including the trade sector. Therefore, the government exercises control over the distribution of fuel oil (BBM). In early September 2022 the government has officially decided to increase the price of subsidized fuel oil (BBM). This is what makes many responses from the public to the policies set by the government. PT Pertamina as a service provider for national fuel oil needs. This study aims to determine the crisis response strategy implemented by the government and PT Pertamina in responding to the ongoing crisis due to the increase in fuel oil. The theory used in this research is Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) with crisis response categorization measurements. The methodology used in this study was content analysis with news published in the online mass media detik.com and Kompas.com for the period 1 September to 31 October 2022. From the analysis carried out as many as 38 news articles, the researchers found that denial categorization was often carried out by the government and PT Pertamina in response to the current crisis situation in the two online media.
