Abstract

Economic growth is an important indicator of a country's success and is often measured by the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). One of the main factors that differentiates the level of economic growth between countries is technological development. This study aimed to estimate the effect of tehnological readiness index on GDP in 10 ASEAN countries from 2015-2019 using a panel data regression and the Fixed Effects Model (FEM) approach. The results of this study indicated that information and communication technology infrastructure index, technology research index, and the availability of financing index for private sectors were proven to have a positive effect on GDP in 10 ASEAN countries during 2015-2019. Meanwhile, technology skills index and industries’ capability in adopting technology index had no effect on GDP. To be able to increase economic growth in 10 ASEAN countries, each ASEAN country is expected to cooperate with each other in enhancing their technological development, one of which is by sharing knowledge and science and technology advantages that they have, so as to provide opportunities for the governments and society to make it easier to access and utilize technology, as well as expanding business opportunities that can improve the economic welfare of a country.
