Abstract

This study is based on Mahasantri, who, of course, have different educational backgrounds when it comes to learning Arabic. Ma'had uses the Al-Qowa'id Wa Tarjamah method to learn Arabic. In light of this foundation, this study expects to depict the Utilization of the Al-Qowa'id Wa Tarjamah Strategy in Learning Arabic at Ma'had Aly Makkah Boyolali Scholarly Year 2022/2023. Phenomenology, a qualitative descriptive research method, is used in this study to investigate the application of the Al-Qowa'id Wa Tarjamah learning method and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in Arabic language learning at Ma'had Aly Makkah Boyolali. Observation, interviews, and documentation were the methods used in this study to collect data. The results of this study show that the steps of the Al-Qowa'id wa Tarjamah method that occurred in Ma'had Aly Makkah: The teacher gave the readings contained in the book and allowed students to ask questions about vocabulary whose meaning was not yet known. After that, the teacher chooses Santri one by one to read the material aloud and interpret it in turn. Then continue with the discussion of Qowa'id on the material by giving examples of other sentences. To find out the understanding of the students, the teacher evaluates using the practice questions in the book. Supporting factors for learning Arabic in Ma'had Aly Makkah Boyolali are: The many facilities in this ma'had, emphasis on memorizing Vocabularies. To train in learning to speak Arabic, occasionally Ma'had Aly Makkah Boyolali invites / presents Arab Sheikhs as Native speakers to become speakers. While the inhibiting factor is that learning seems monotonous because it only uses the same method, this makes the motivation of the Santri reduced. On the other hand, there is also no regulation to apply Arabic in everyday life in the Ma'had environment and also the absence of Sheikh (native speakers) who live in Ma'had, so there is no role model as a spur to apply Arabic, especially in the Ma'had environment.
