Abstract

High lecture load on final year students causes various phenomena of academic stress to emerge. Stress management is important as an effort to prevent stress by recognizing problems, understanding their impact, and overcoming existing problems. Listening to music can also be a means to distract and explore emotions, as well as help keep the mind focused. This study aims to determine the relationship between enjoying music and stress management with students' academic stress levels, especially in final semester students. By using a correlational quantitative research method, with a population of final semester students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta who are working on their final project or thesis. By using the Snowball Sampling method, a sample of 106 students can be obtained, with a Likert scale as data collection which contains the variables of listening to music, stress management, and student academic stress. Researchers used the data analysis method of multiple linear regression, so it can be seen that there is a significant negative relationship between stress management and listening to music on academic stress in Muhammadiyah University students in Surakarta with a score of 0.000 (p <0.01) and an effective contribution of 92.9%.
