Abstract

Based on the research that has been done, in the Talang Kidul area, Talang Village, Bayat District, Klaten Regency, including clay soil that has a high plasticity value, according to research the PI value of the soil is 20.70%, so it needs to be improved by stabilizing it using powder glass and lime to improve the soil structure. The percentage of addition of glass powder and lime powder to the clay is 2% lime and the percentage variations are 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%. From the results of the physical properties test, it was found that the water content (w) and specific gravity (Gs) value of the original soil decreased, and the plasticity index (PI) value decreased along with the addition of lime percentage and variations in the addition of glass powder. Based on the AASHTO classification, it is included in the A-7-6 classification while the mixed soil in all variations is included in A-6 and the USCS classification is included in the CL classification, namely inorganic clay with low plasticity while the mixed soil is 2% lime and the percentage variation of glass powder is 6%, 8 %, 10% are included in the OL specification, i.e. silty clay with low plasticity). In testing the mechanical properties of Standard Proctor, the highest value of optimum water content (wopt) was obtained at the addition of 2% lime worth 24.89% and the smallest value was at the addition of 2% lime and 10% glass powder worth 20.80%. The smallest dry volume weight value (ɣdmax) was 1.40 gr/cm3 with the addition of 2% lime while the highest value was 1.59 gr/cm3 with the addition of 2% lime and 10% glass powder. The results of the Direct Shear Test (DST) of the original soil are 0.836 kg/cm2, the cohesion value of the original soil (c) is 0.183 kg/cm2 and the friction angle in the original soil (φ) is 23.43ᵒ. In this test, the greater the content of lime and glass powder added, the greater the cohesion value of the soil, and the angle of internal friction will increase with the addition of the percentage of lime and glass powder.
