Abstract
The aims of this study were (1) to analyze the parenting style of students' parents in developing the character of responsibility for students in private elementary schools (2) to find out the obstacles and solutions in overcoming the obstacles of parents in developing the character of responsibility for elementary school students. This study uses a type of qualitative research with an ethnographic design. The research was conducted at SDS 4 Paripurna Swakarsa, with the object of research being the upbringing of parents and the teacher's role in shaping the character of student responsibility. Collecting research data using interview, observation, and documentation methods. The data that has been collected is analyzed in three steps: data collection, presenting data (data display), and drawing conclusions or verification (conclusion drawing and verification). While the validity of the data with technical triangulation. The results of the study showed that (1) the parenting style applied by parents in developing the responsible character of fifth grade elementary school students at SDS 4 Paripurna Swakarsa, namely authoritative parenting that is integrated with Islamic values. (2) This study shows that parents face several obstacles in developing the character of responsibility in their children. These obstacles include children who are difficult to direct, children who do not want to admit their mistakes, children who are lazy to learn because they prefer to play with cellphones, environmental influences and children who lack enthusiasm to progress. The solution to overcome this is to find out the causes behind behavior that is difficult to direct, avoid excessive punishment, set time limits for using cellphones, find a more positive alternative environment, and understand children's interests and talents. The contribution of this research is for every parent, regardless of profession, to adopt a parenting style that always integrates Islamic values because closeness to the creator is a benchmark for controlling everything, be it from the side of parents, teachers or students.
