Abstract

PT. Natura Nusantara Persada is a factory that is still actively producing charcoal briquettes with the MTO system, but in its production it has several problems, one of which is waste. This research was conducted with the aim of identifying waste contained in the charcoal briquette production process, knowing the factors causing the identified waste, and providing improvement proposals to reduce or eliminate waste in the production process. Lean manufacturing in the production process is tasked with making improvements to waste. VSM includes methods in a lean approach consisting of CSM and FSM. Identification of waste to overcome problems is carried out through the distribution of waste workshop questionnaires, it was found that the three types of waste that most often occur are waiting, defects, and motion. The results of the waste weighting workshop were used in determining the VLASAT tool, based on calculations it was known that PAM was the tool that had the highest score so it was selected for use in waste analysis. Identification of the cause of waste is done with a fishbone diagram. Activity description using PAM, all activities are categorized into VA, NVA, or NNVA. Initially, the lead time of the production of 25x50mm hexagonal type charcoal briquettes was 90.07 hours, after repairs were reduced to 77.02 hours. The efficiency of the production process also increased from 57.99% to 67.81%.
