Abstract
The development of Islamic education in Indonesia is increasingly showing its identity. Islamic education in this era has quite strong competition. This is marked by the emergence of new faces competing to establish an educational institution, either from an organization or a foundation. One of them is Nurussalam Al-Khoir Islamic Middle School. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of Nurussalam Al-Khoir Islamic Middle School in 2014-2023 along with the driving factors and inhibiting factors for the development of Nurussalam Al-Khoir Islamic Middle School in 2014-2023. This research is a field research with a qualitative type. The approach used is a historical approach. The methods used in collecting data are observation, interviews and documentation. Then analyzed by means of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are 1) Nurussalam Al-Khoir Islamic Middle School in 2013-2023 experienced 2 phases, the initial pioneering (2014-2020) and the development period (2020-2023). Then, there are also factors that influence during its development. The driving factor, at the beginning of the pilot was the founder and community support; during the development period, namely teacher resources and the environment. While the inhibiting factors are funding and a less strategic geographical location.
