Abstract

Individuals who have graduated from high school are expected to be able to pursue higher education, but sometimes conditions make these individuals delay or stop (gap year) from formal education for ± 1-2 years. This condition has an influence on self-acceptance of gap year students influenced by several things such as social support and self-concept. This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and self-concept with self-acceptance of gaypear students in Surakarta. The method used is correlational quantitative involving 169 gap year students. This study uses self-acceptance scale, social support scale and self-concept scale. The non-random sampling technique uses the snowball sampling technique with the criteria of active students in Surakarta who have taken one to two years gap year before entering college. The data analysis used was multiple regression analysis and it was found that there was a very significant relationship between social support and self-concept with self-acceptance of gap year students in Surakarta, (F = 106.071; p = 0.000; p <0.01). Then it was found that there was a very significant positive relationship between social support and self-acceptance (r = 0.452; p = 0.000; p <0.01), there was a very significant positive relationship between self-concept and gap year student self-acceptance (r =0.736, p = 0.000; p<0.01). Effective contribution to social support and self-concept variables with self-acceptance variables showing a percentage of 56.1% with the percentage of social support playing a role of 7.1% and self-concept of 49% and 43.9% influenced by other factors not examined in the study This.
