Abstract
One of the preventative measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic was encouraging clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). Personal health behavior change (PHBS) begins with an individual's realization that he or she is part of a family, group, or community whose members want to be able to help themselves (independently) in the health sector. The general public can benefit from PHBS by becoming more informed, and thus more willing and able, to live a more hygienic and healthy lifestyle. The spread of bacterial and viral infections can be avoided if people always act this way. Clean and healthy lifestyle habits include regular hand washing (PHBS). The purpose of this study is to document the frequency with which people washed their hands before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study takes a quantitative descriptive approach. Totaling 87 individuals, these are students from the 2019 cohort at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta's Faculty of Health Sciences. Sampling with a Rational Proportional Distribution. During the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent transition period, we collected data using a hand washing behavior questionnaire consisting of a total of 15 questions. Eighty-two people (82.8%) were found to have developed a good routine of hand washing during the pandemic, fourteen people (16.1%) were found to have developed a sufficient routine, and one person (1.1%) was found to have developed a poor routine. Fifty-seven percent of people had a good hand-washing habit during the COVID-19 transition period, forty-one percent had a moderate habit, and one person had a poor habit. The majority of FIK UMS students reported good or very good handwashing hygiene during the COVID-19 pandemic and the COVID-19 transition period.
