Abstract

Quality is a point of consideration in choosing products and becomes a weapon of competition between companies so that it is necessary to carry out quality control continuously to maintain product quality and reduce failed products. PT Djohartex Magelang received complaints due to failed products where the average number of defects in 2022 reached 18% of total production. The study aims to determine the causes of defects in grey fabric products and analyze with the six sigma DMAIC method to avoid and reduce defective products at PT Djohartex. Define create SIPOC diagram and identify customer needs, Measure using pareto diagram, determine DPMO value and sigma level, Analyze using p-control map, Minitab application curve, and fishbone diagram, Improve using 5W+1H, and Control using Poka Yoke. The results showed that the tightness/shortness defect became the key CTQ of the identified defects. The average DPMO value is 25,378.72 with a sigma level of 3.46. The results of process stability and process capability state that PT Djohartex is not capable. There are four factors that cause tightness/shortness defects including humans, environment, machines, and materials. The improvement proposal given is to pay attention to human resources, create a comfortable and safe work environment, replace spare parts and standardize machine settings and always pay attention to the quality of materials from the initial process to the final process. The proposal for quality control is to label the weft yarn.
