Abstract

Elderly friendly city is a city that accommodates the needs of the elderly with all the inherent limitations. The elderly-friendly city is needed because there is a surge in the elderly population each year and its peak is in 2030. Data obtained from the Statistics Agency in the city of Surakarta in 2016 there were 54,564 elderly. Research on internal factors that influence the perception of the elderly aims to find out how the perception of the elderly about the city of Surakarta as an elderly-friendly city and what are the factors that influence it. The method in this study uses a quantitative descriptive research method using a cross-sectional approach. The technique in sampling uses the total sampling technique because the number of respondents is less than 100. In this study the sample used is, 57 elderly PWRI members who were given a Questionnaire. The analysis used is bivariate analysis with chi- square test for the results of the hypothesis analysisi of the influence of each variable of age, level of education, type of work and gender on the perception of the elderly towards the city of Surakarta as an elderly friendly city. The results of research on the factors that influence the perception of the elderly about the city of Surakarta as an elderly friendly city in PWRI Danukusuman showed 32 respondents (56.1%) had positive perceptions and 25 respondents (43.9%) had negative perceptions. The results of the perception of the elderly that internal factors do not affect the perception of the elderly towards the city of Surakarta.
