Abstract

The phenomenon of second account instagram is increasingly emerging and is used by users as a place of self-disclosure. Self-disclosure is the open disclosure of information about oneself. However, in revealing themselves on second account Instagram, users are more comfortable using an anonymous identity. This study was conducted to determine the effect of anonymity in one's self-disclosure on second account Instagram. The research uses the theory of self-disclosure and SIDE (Social Identity Model of Deindividuation Effects) and the method used is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted on teenagers or young adults who use second account Instagram for self-disclosure. Informants were sought using purposive sampling technique. The data collected is through observation and interview stages. The analysis technique used in this research is triangulation of data sources. The results found in the study are that anonymity in second accounts affects informants' self-disclosure. Informants feel happy and relieved if they have expressed their feelings or problems on second account Instagram in the form of posts on stories or feeds regarding daily activities and feelings that are being experienced. Second account Instagram is also used to follow olshop accounts and to monitor other people's Instagram accounts.
