Abstract

Waste management should be aplicated to minimize negative effects of market waste accumulation and minimize the risk of breeding dangerous disease vectors. One of the stages of waste management at the market are stage of collecting and sorting waste by traders. Pasar Palur in Karanganyar Regency has a total of 741 traders. Several factors can influence waste management actions are level of education, knowledge, attitudes, and infrastructure. This study aims to determine the relationship between education level, knowledge, and attitudes towards waste management actions by traders in Pasar Palur, Karanganyar Regency. This study uses a quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study riset were all traders in Pasar Palur, Karanganyar Regency. The sample size required in this study was 241 traders with the sampling technique using purposive sampling. Analysis using Chi-square shows that there is a significant relationship between education level (p= 0.000), knowledge (p= 0.000), and attitude (p= 0.000) with waste management practices by traders in Pasar Palur, Karanganyar Regency. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between education level, knowledge, and attitudes with waste management actions by traders at Palur Market, Karanganyar Regency, so it is necessary to increase the knowledge of traders by promoting the importance of waste management through posters and market radio calls and it is necessary to increase the attitude of traders by reminding each other regarding the act of disposing of trash and holding routine activities to clean up the environment around the stand.
