Abstract

The principal in realizing school goals must have the ability to manage the resources in the school as a whole with an effective and efficient strategy. One of the principal leadership models in carrying out their duties and responsibilities is the transformational leadership model. This study aims to: (1) Explain the competence of transformational leadership of school principals in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School; (2) Explaining the role of transformational leadership of school principals in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School; and (3) Explain the picture of the effectiveness of the principal's transformational leadership in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with an ethnographic design. The subjects of this study were school principals, teachers, school committees, parents of students and students. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The data validity technique was carried out by using technique and source triangulation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of the study show that: (1) The principal's transformational leadership competency in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School is indicated by personality competence, managerial competence, entrepreneurial competence, supervision competence, and social competence; (2) The transformational leadership role of school principals in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School is implemented with the principal as educator, manager, administrator, evaluator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator; and (3) The description of the effectiveness of the principal's transformational leadership in improving teacher performance at the Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School shows that the principal has a good ideal influence, inspirational motivation has been possessed by the principal, intellectual stimulus has been carried out by the principal, the attention component the individual has been carried out by the principal well. The conclusions of the study are (1) the principal's transformational leadership competence in improving teacher performance at SMA Science Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar is well implemented; The transformational leadership role of school principals in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School is well implemented; and (3) The description of the effectiveness of the principal's transformational leadership in improving teacher performance at the Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School is studied based on ideal influences, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulus, and individual attention.
