Abstract
This study examines reception analysis with the aim of describing the acceptance of the PPKM Community Activity Restrictions policy on street vendors. The meaning of PPKM policy news messages can be studied by analyzing the reception created by Stuart Hall. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Sources of data used in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data is obtained face-to-face from the subject or the original source, while secondary data is a type of data that cannot share information directly with research subjects. In this study, primary sources could be collected through direct interviews with 6 street vendors in the Karangasem Surakarta area who were affected by the PPKM policy. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from journals, articles, and books that were relevant to the research being conducted. Data analysis consisted of 3 activity flows that were intertwined simultaneously, namely: information reduction, information presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this research show that there are Dominant, Negotiated, and Oppositional positions in this study. The difference in acceptance in this study is related to the attitude of the informants towards health issues, namely Covid 19 which was rife at the time the research was conducted.
