Abstract
Students are individuals who are currently studying at university. First-year students who are unable to adapt to the new environment may experience various problems, including problems in building relationships with other people. Self-disclosure must be applied to every individual and other people because high self-disclosure leads to high self-confidence. Self-disclosure is influenced by several factors, one of which is self-esteem. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-esteem and self-disclosure in students. The population in this study are active students of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, class of 2019-2022. This study used purposive sampling data collection techniques with a total sample of 150 students. This study uses two scales, namely self-disclosure scale and self-esteem scale. Data analysis used product moment analysis test. The results of the analysis of the data obtained the value of r_xy = 0.324 and Sig (1-Tailed) is P = 0.000 (Sig 1-tailed <0.01) which means that there is a very significant positive relationship between self-esteem and self-disclosure in students. The results of effective contributions show that self-esteem contributes 9% to self-disclosure.
