Abstract

The number of prosperous people is the main problem in every region because the progress of a region can be seen from the number of prosperous people. One of the factors that can hinder the number of prosperous people is the inadequate planning process and inappropriate fund management. This study aims to measure and analyze the effect of government spending in the education, health, infrastructure, and income inequality sectors on the number of prosperous people in 34 provinces in Indonesia in 2018-2021 using panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of this study indicate that government spending in the health sector has a significant positive effect on the number of prosperous people and government spending on the education sector and income inequality has a significant negative effect on the number of prosperous people while government spending on the infrastructure sector has a positive but not significant effect on the number of prosperous people. In order to increase the number of prosperous people in Indonesia, it is hoped that the government will focus more on improving the quality and quantity of education so that getting jobs will be easier for the people. In addition, government spending should be focused on infrastructure development so that it can attract investors and create many jobs and increase the number of prosperous people.
