Abstract

The Islamic values of rahmatan lil alamin are not well understood by some Muslims therefore they become fanatical which triggers religious, social, and cultural conflicts which then lead to acts of terrorism. This inability is one of the obstacles to the presence of Islam with complete coolness and peaceThis study aims to describe the methods of fostering Islamic values rahmatan lil 'alamin and the inhibiting factors in fostering Islamic values rahmatan lil 'alamin at Addien As Shiddieq Islamic Boarding School and Al-Irsyad Tengaran Islamic Boarding School. This research includes qualitative research with a case study approach. The main sources of this research were caregivers and caregivers at Addien As Shiddieq Pacitan Islamic Boarding School and Al-Irsyad Tengaran Islamic Boarding School. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, and documents. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model. The results of the first study show that the method of fostering Islamic values rahmatan lil 'alamin at the Addien As Shiddieq Islamic boarding school divides into three aspects, namely methods of strengthening faith, strengthening morals, and resilience in worship. While the method of instilling Islamic values rahmatan lil 'alamin at the Al-Irsyad Tengaran Islamic Boarding School is an emphasis on tolerance, based on faith, open-mindedness, religious social activities, and intensive supervision. The inhibiting factors for inculcating the Islamic values of rahmatan lil 'alamin at the Addien As Shiddieq Islamic boarding school are the subjectivity of personal interests and the influence of technological advances which spread a negative stigma about Islam. While the inhibiting factors in instilling Islamic values rahmatan lil 'alamin at the Al-Irsyad Tengaran Islamic Boarding School are subjectivity of personal interests, the influence of technological advances that spread negative stigma about Islam, and the use of instructional media that is less than optimal in the learning process.
