Abstract

Non-specific low back pain is pain localized between the costal margin and the inferior gluteal fold, and may occur with or without lower extremity pain. Not a few people with heavy activities in the productive age range experience complaints of lower back pain due to strenuous activities. One of the physiotherapy modalities that utilizes electrical stimulation is the Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator which has two main types of Acupuncture like tens with low frequency and Conventional tens with high frequency. So there is a need for further research related to the two main types of TENS on reducing pain in non-specific low back pain. This study used the Quasy Experimental method with a control group study approach and used a research design using pre and post tests. The sampling technique in this study used total sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria with a total of 12 patients who were randomly divided into 2 treatment groups. Group I consisted of 6 people who were given the Acupuncture like TENS intervention, and Group II, which consisted of 6 patients who were given the conventional TENS intervention. The research instrument used was the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to measure pain intensity with data analysis techniques using descriptive analytic. Based on the results of giving Acupuncture like TENS modality to group I non-specific low back pain patients, the mean difference in pain score reduction was 4.16, while conventional TENS administration to group II had a mean difference with a value of 3.83. Giving Acupuncture like TENS has a greater acute effect compared to conventional TENS modality on reducing pain scores in patients with non-specific low back pain.
