Abstract
Three-phase induction motors are widely used as prime mover in industrial machines. This three-phase induction motor is designed to have a sinusoidal input voltage. Induction motor in its operation also produces harmonics. This is because in its manufacture, the induction motor uses a ferromagnetic material which produces B-H curve that is not linear, causing a saturation effect. The impact of harmonics on an induction motor is an increase in induction motor losses and also a reduction of motor efficiency. In addition, this harmonic generates harmonic torque along with fundamental torque which results in vibrations which have a significant influence on motor operation. In this research, the Simulink Matlab application was used to simulate a harmonic circuit in a three phase electric motor. The total output of harmonic distortion as much as possible does not exceed the standard of total harmonic distortion in IEEE 519-2014 which is 5%. Observations were made on the parameter of the electric motor, namely RPM, torque, efficiency, and motor losses. The average value of efficiency in every order is 70%.
