Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of academic achievement and family environment on the intention to continue their education to tertiary institutions either partially or simultaneously. This type of research uses quantitative survey research design. The population in this study were all XII IPS students at SMA Negeri 1 Geger, totaling 160 students. Samples were taken as many as 110 students with proportional random sampling technique. The data needed in this study were obtained through questionnaires and documentation. Data collection techniques using the questionnaire method that has been tested with validity and reliability tests. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis, F test, t test, R^2 test and the effective and relative contributions. The results of the study show that: 1) Learning achievement on students' interest in continuing their education to tertiary institutions is acceptable. It is known that tcount > ttable, namely 3.458 > 1.982 and a significance of <.05, namely .001 with (SR) of 15% and (SE) of 7.9%. The family environment on students' interest in continuing their education to tertiary institutions is acceptable. It is known that tcount > ttable, namely 9.622 > 1.982 and a significance of <.05, namely .000 with (SR) of 85% and (SE) of 44.6%. 3) Learning achievement and family environment on students' interest in continuing their education to tertiary institutions are acceptable. This is based on the analysis of variance multiple linear regression (F test) it is known that the F-count > Ftable is 59.479 > 3.08 and the significance is <.05, which is .000. The coefficient of determination R^2 of .526 shows that the magnitude of learning achievement and family environment on students' interest in continuing their education to tertiary education is 52.6%, while the rest is influenced by other variables.
