Abstract

Learning is the task of a student in carrying out his lectures, but students often experience obstacles in the learning process, one of which is academic procrastination which is influenced by factors in the form of gadget addiction and student self-control. In this case the researcher conducted a study aiming to find out the relationship between gadget addiction and self-control with academic procrastination in students. The research method used is a correlational quantitative approach with a simple sampling data collection technique with a sample of 100 students studying at the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a scale of gadget addiction, self-control and academic procrastination which was adapted and modified by the researcher. Data analysis in this study used multiple linear regression analysis. With the result that there is a significant relationship between gadget addiction and self-control with academic procrastination of Psychology faculty students, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarata, so the major hypothesis can be accepted with an F result of 20,406 and a significance of 0.000 with a simultaneous correlation of the two variables of 0.296. While the results of the analysis on the first minor hypothesis show a correlation of 0.246 with a significance of 0.000 which indicates that gadget addiction (X1) has a significant positive relationship with student academic procrastination. The results of the second hypothesis analysis have a correlation of -0.499 with a significance of 0.030 which also shows that the self-control variable (X2) has a partially positive relationship to student academic procrastination.
