Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic resilience with stress. The research method used is correlational quantitative. The population in this study were final year students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta with the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The samples selected in this study were 151 students, 57 male students and 94 female students. This study uses 3 scales, namely the academic stress scale, the emotional intelligence scale, and the resilience scale. Data analysis used multiple linear regression analysis test. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and resilience with the academic stress of final year students at Muhammadiyah University, Surakarta (R = 0.640; F = 51.399; p = 0.000; p <0.05). This proves that the major hypothesis in this study is accepted. There is a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence and academic stress (r = -0.520; p = 0.000; p <0.05), so that the first minor hypothesis is accepted. There is a significant negative relationship between resilience and academic stress (r = -0.636; p = 0.000; p <0.05), so the second hypothesis in this study is also accepted. The effective contribution in this study was 41% with the resilience visa variable being more influential with 36% and the emotional intelligence variable was only 5% with the remaining 59% being influenced by other factors..
