Abstract

As we get older, the function of body systems deteriorates, including cognitive function. Decline in cognitive function in the elderly can manifest as speech disturbances, loss of short and long term memory and blurring of time and place. Prevention and detection of cognitive disorders should be done as early as possible so that patients receive sufficient information. Cognitive decline can be measured with a short mental status questionnaire that was tested for validity. Validity test is used to measure the validity of the questionnaire. We can talk about high validity when the test fulfills its measurement task or provides accurate and precise measurement results according to the purpose of the test. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the MMSE for cognitive decline in the elderly in certain populations. This research method uses narrative grouping, namely separating similar data with measurable results to achieve the goals of scientific journals that meet the inclusion criteria.
