Abstract
Doxing is the act of collecting and disseminating personal data belonging to another person without their permission. Nowadays, the development of technology has advanced and doxing cases have become common in Indonesian social media. The large muslim population in Indonesia is certainly the reason why researchers will analyze doxing in the perspective of criminal law and Islamic law. This research uses a descriptive method that uses a normative approach. The data collection method uses a literature study that uses reading sources such as books, law journals, lecture materials, and related legislation. The data analysis method in this research is descriptive qualitative which later draws conclusions using the deductive method. Based on the research, the author finds that before the existence of the Personal Data Protection Law, doxing has not been clearly regulated both the act and the criminal sanctions. After the legalization of the Personal Data Protection Law, doxing has been clearly regulated both its actions and criminal sanctions. Researchers also found that victims of doxing can be given protection by LPSK by providing protection rights, namely protection of personal, family and property security and the right to obtain temporary residence. Meanwhile, according to Islamic law, doxing is not explicitly regulated in neiher Al-Qur’an nor Hadist, but when it’s examined with qiyas, it can be found that doxing is a prohibited and haram act according to Islamic law.
