Abstract

Indonesia as a country of laws that protect all its citizens needs to have laws that regulate the rights and obligations of domestic workers. It is undeniable that working as a domestic worker or what is often called a domestic assistant is still underestimated and is often treated arbitrarily by employers. In the submission of the draft law on the protection of domestic workers, it has been stalled for 17 years. This makes the rights of domestic workers still vulnerable to discrimination and not legally protected according to the principle of legal certainty that should exist. Therefore, the Government needs to immediately pass the Domestic Workers Protection Bill into law so that legal certainty covering the amount of working time, social security, and labor relations with domestic workers is clearer.
